This school was designed by architect Stavros Economou. It is a good example of Modernist morphology which exploits the technological and aesthetic properties of reinforced concrete construction. The rich architectural vocabulary of curved and rectilinear elements includes the large entrance canopy, sunbreakers in front of windows and screen walls made of precast perforated decorative blocks and panels with cross motifs. Emphasis is given to the structural frame, which is differentiated from non- loadbearing infill wall and glazing elements. Variety is achieved by the use of natural stone cladding in parts of the elevation and base of the building.
