Agni Michaelidou wrote books – researches about the main towns of Cyprus as they were in earlier times, gathering for them a lot of information about every aspect of their life and development. The book on “old Varosha” was published in 1970 and was the first of the series. Michalidou was born in Famagusta in 1914 and died in 1990. She graduated from the Upper School of Famagusta in 1930. She then attended the “Saint Joseph” School of nuns in Larnaca. In 1950 she married in 1950 to Miki Michaelides, who was president (1977-81) of the Cyprus Cartographic Society.
